NEXIUM:Treatment of: Chronic active peptic ulcer disease, peptic ulcer in adults; relief of gastric ulcer and bleeding disorders (main indications: peptic and duodenal ulcers, gastric and enteric fever).
Gastric - duodenal ulcer (peptic ulcer):250 mg IV twice daily for 7 days. If duodenal ulcer becomes active within the first 2-6 weeks of treatment (duodenal ulcer carcinoma), then 500 mg IV twice daily for up to 6 weeks. If peptic ulcer becomes active at the time of treatment (papules syndrome/papule jaundice), then 500 mg IV twice daily for up to 6 weeks. If duodenal ulcer carcinoma, then be given a single 500 mg IV once daily for 6 weeks. For treatment of duodenal ulcers secondary to esophageal carcinoma, then an initial treatment of 25 mg/day for 7-14 days is recommended (papules syndrome/papule jaundice).
